London 2012 Home Head Journey

Why we're getting behind Joanna and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local table tennis player, Joanna Parker, as she attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Surrey-born Joanna trains locally at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. She has been playing table tennis since the age of seven and has already won the National Championships (every age group) and a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in Mixed Doubles with her partner Paul Drinkhall. Currently, Joanna is ranked British No 2.

Joanna commented: ‘I love BMWs and can't believe that I'm going to be driving a BMW 1 Series from now until the end of the London 2012 Games. I have a really demanding training schedule and I do a lot of travelling to promote the Games so having the BMW 1 Series is brilliant. Thank you so much Stratstone Doncaster and BMW.’

‘We're really pleased to be backing Joanna,’ said Phil Presswood, Dealer Principal at Stratstone Doncaster. ‘Attempting to qualify for the London 2012 Games can't be easy so we're more than happy to help in any way we can. It's also a great opportunity for everyone connected with the dealership to get more involved with the 2012 Games.’
